Mental illnesses are tough, frightening, isolating, and sometimes even life-threatening.
Whether you’ve experienced one yourself or supported someone who has, mental illnesses touch us all. So let’s get educated, because there is help.
Each episode of PSYCHEDUP focuses on one mental illness, featuring real stories from those living it and honest insights into their experiences. We explore symptoms, diagnosis, and treatments, from medications, talk therapy, or both.
As an advocate for better mental health care, I hope PSYCHEDUP will be your guide to understanding mental illness and finding hope.
LISTEN TO S2 TRAILER
Dr. Diane McIntosh: Being diagnosed with a psychiatric disorder like schizophrenia, anorexia nervosa, an anxiety disorder or dementia is really scary.
But what I want you to know is it’s also really common and with the right help, it’s manageable.
I’m Dr. Diane McIntosh. I’m a psychiatrist and that means it’s my job to work with and to treat patients who have been diagnosed with a mental illness.
I have a show called PSYCHEDUP, and right now I’m working on season two.
Each episode covers one topic or one mental illness. What’s it like to really live with a disorder, coming straight from people who’ve been there. Then I get into the causes, symptoms, and treatments.
I know as well as anyone that resources are stretched thin. It is hard to get help. Stigma can come from workmates, friends, family, even healthcare professionals. It’s hard to ask for help. But it’s worthwhile for you or for someone you love. We all deserve treatment and help is out there.
In season one, we talk to people living with ADHD, depression, bipolar disorder and more. I’d like you to give it a listen and let me know what you think. You can leave a review, you can give us a follow, or you can share it with someone you care about.
I’m getting so psyched up to share new episodes of PSYCHEDUP with you soon.

I’m doing this podcast as part of my goal of dramatically improving mental health outcomes, of making diagnostic and treatment guidance available to clinicians where and when they need it. I want to build capacity in our healthcare system and make room for compassion – for patients, and for ourselves.
